The charge covers the food, packaging, and delivery for that week's box. You choose your meals from a rotating weekly menu — if you don't choose, HelloFresh automatically selects meals for you based on your preferences, and charges your card shortly before delivery.

A common reason people are surprised by the charge is signing up with a heavily discounted introductory offer (e.g. "first box for £1") and then being charged the full weekly rate from the second delivery onwards. HelloFresh charged me even though I didn't select any meals — why?
HelloFresh auto-selects meals for you if you don't choose before the weekly deadline. The charge still applies. This is by design — the service assumes you want delivery unless you actively skip the week. Always log in before Wednesday evening to skip a week if you don't want a box.
Can I get a refund if I cancelled too late?
If the charge has already been processed, HelloFresh generally won't refund it as the food will already be packed and allocated. However, contacting their customer service and explaining the situation sometimes results in a credit. If the box hasn't been dispatched yet, they may be able to cancel it.
What is the difference between HelloFresh and Gousto?
