What is VINTED on my bank statement?

This is a purchase from Vinted — the UK's most popular peer-to-peer marketplace for buying and selling second-hand clothing and accessories.

Vinted second-hand purchase

✓ Legitimate charge

VINTED on your bank statement is a purchase made on Vinted, the second-hand clothing and accessories marketplace where private sellers list items they no longer want. Vinted is free for sellers — all fees are paid by buyers.

Your Vinted charge will include the item price plus a buyer protection fee (typically 3–8% of the item price, plus a small fixed amount). This buyer protection fee covers you if the item doesn't arrive or significantly differs from the listing description. Without it, you'd have no recourse if a private seller doesn't send the item.

Vinted charges appear immediately when you purchase. The money is held by Vinted and only released to the seller once you confirm receipt — so if there's a problem, you can dispute it before the seller gets paid.

Questions about Vinted charges

Why is the Vinted charge more than the item price?
Vinted adds a buyer protection fee to every purchase. This is separate from the item price and covers you if the item doesn't arrive or isn't as described. The fee is calculated as a percentage of the item price plus a fixed amount — typically adding a few pounds to most purchases.
How do I get a refund from Vinted?
If there's a problem with your order, open a dispute within 2 days of receiving the item (or after the expected delivery date if it hasn't arrived). Go to My Purchases in the app, select the order, and tap I have an issue. Vinted holds the payment until the dispute is resolved — if they rule in your favour, the full amount including the buyer protection fee is refunded.
I don't have a Vinted account — why is there a charge?
If you don't recognise a Vinted charge and have no account, it may be a household member's purchase, or potentially unauthorised use of your card. Check with anyone who has access to your payment details first. If it's genuinely unauthorised, contact your bank to dispute the charge and request a new card number.
